A self-organized network based on peer cooperation. This hybrid system incorporates the Art-Tool unique educational web application and the workshop, as well as wiki-based research platform for commons-based peer production which serves as an outlet of the HoopUp project.

| A place for the creation of different authors where they can reflect on current social transformations and issues they consider important personally. The online Art-Tool, powered by Urtica, serves as creation-communication-ground for the workshops, which take place in the real world. | Workshop assimilation of reality
|
| The Workshops focus on the symbolic articulation and socio-cultural aspect/impact of the artistic message. Through the implementation of head-on and hands-on processes, participants have the task of defining and creating a message (textual and visual symbol), which they want to send to the world. Thus Urtica starts workshop with a question “If you could change something, what would it be? Everything, anything, nothing?”

The HoopUp vision is to become resourceful hub which documents and generates knowledge production, pluralism of expression and social awareness through active artistic creation, transdisciplinary research and international cooperation.

| Those are mental projections of social relations created by participants of the workshops. Methodology is similar to the landscape painting, but in this case composition is the HoopUp computational framework, and colors are symbols that represent individual viewpoints. We aim to investigate how symbolic representation acquire its meaning in different geopolitical and sociocultural contexts?

| The symbolic communication is one of the ultimate way of information transmission in today's mediated society. Linguistic signs, pictograms, traffic signs, computer icons, corporate logos, aggregate synthetic microworlds through which we are surfing in our everyday-life.

| Knowledge production and artistic research

| In a society whose functional systems are driven by technological and economic organizational competence, the art system cannot exist outside of any empirical “processuality” of everyday life. An art that is socially relevant reflects, comments on, and transforms tendencies, conflicts, crises, and phenomena from various areas of life by aesthetic means, and, in this way, it generates “a surplus value of knowledge.”

| Art Power and the position of artist

| There is high expectation within professional circles for art to be critical. The position of a ‘corrective’ brings some questions: is the position of an artist truly autonomous in that he or she controls the resources to obtain his or her independence? Does art have the power to transform our perception and cognition? How deeply and broadly can artistic ‘subversion’ or ‘correction’ penetrate and effect change in society?
